How to learn the map of Africa

Africa becomes much easier when it is learned in bands rather than as fifty-plus labels at once. Start with north Africa along the Mediterranean, then the west coast, central Africa, the Horn of Africa, east Africa and southern Africa. Egypt, South Africa, Madagascar and the long Atlantic coastline make useful anchors.

Pay attention to shape and relative position. The Horn points east toward the Arabian Peninsula, Madagascar sits off the southeast coast, and the Sahara occupies a broad northern belt. Progressive rounds are meant to build these relationships before smaller neighboring countries are added.
