Recognize countries from outlines alone

Country Shape removes labels, flags and neighboring borders, forcing you to notice silhouette. Peninsulas, islands, coastlines and unusual proportions become the clue. Italy is famously easy, but countries such as Vietnam, Chile, Japan and Greece also develop recognizable visual signatures with practice.

Do not expect every country to look obvious immediately. Rotate your mental map back to its normal north-up orientation and look for one distinctive feature. Shape recognition is especially useful because it strengthens map memory even when the country appears without text.
